The Kill Order ( My Summary)

The Kill Order
As my free reading book I picked The Kill Order. This book is a prequel to The Maze Runner series. I read that series about 2 years ago and I was so happy when I heard James Dashner was making a prequel. This is what it is about...
In a world that is falling apart because of the natural disaster of "The Sun Flare", survivors Mark, Alec, Trina, Lana, the Toad, Darnell, and Misty are finally settled into a settlement where other survivors are living. The Sun Flares killed half of the world because the sun's waves were too much for the world and unless you were underground or in a house away from any windows you would have overheated from the sun's violent flares. So after this natural disaster the group of 7 are happily living in a settlement. They are finally getting over the death of their friends and family and have become like a family themselves. But one day all of the sudden a berg (it is pretty much a fancy helicopter/plane) comes and starts shooting the people in the settlement with strange tubes filled with liquid. No one in the group, except for Darnel, gets hit with one. Darnel starts to go crazy and they have to isolate him from the rest of the group and he eventually dies. Now the 6 of them decide to travel to a new settlement but then Misty gets sick and she eventually dies and so does The Toad. Now only the 4 of them are struggling to survive. They go to other settlements but find the same result as their settlement, everyone is dead from being hit by a dart. Later in the book Mark finds out that the darts were an experiment that went horribly wrong. They wanted the darts to just kill people because there were too many people on Earth and not enough resources so the government thought they could start fresh, but they had to get rid of people first. But instead of killing people, the darts make them go crazy, and to make it worse the disease is air born. In the middle of the book the group of 4 find a little girl, Deedee and she joins their group. Her family was killed by the darts but somehow she is immune to the disease. I stopped reading here because I didn't want to blog about the ending just in case someone wants to read the book, which I suggest.

My short story

In the summer I went to Florida for a lacrosse trip. It was surrounded around Disney’s Wide World of Sports and it was so much fun. When I first got to Florida, after my dad and I left the airport, we were so excited that we couldn’t wait another second and decided to head straight for Universal studios. It was my first time that I can remember being in Disney. My dad and I, who are Harry Potter nerds, knew exactly where we were going. To Harry Potter world of course! We went there and each had a glass of butter beer, which is a drink in the movies. After we left we hit the hotel pool and I hung out with the girls from lacrosse while my dad went off with the other dads. The next morning we woke up and I had my first game in Florida. It was crazy. We went to the ESPN Sports Center and it had restaurants, the nicest fields I have ever seen and played on, everyone had special uniforms just for their Florida team. It was so amazed and grateful to of had the privilege of being there. I was one of the youngest kids on the team so I watched the older players closely to pick up skills from them I had not yet attained. After a full day of winning all our games we rushed back to our hotel, took a 15 minutes shower and a 20 minute nap and then went back to the pool. There was so much to do I couldn’t wait. The team stayed their till about late 11 and we opened up the pool slide even though we weren’t supposed to, and the parents and coaches were all in a circle. Soon after, the kids joined in and we created “the circle of death.”  The coaches would announce in a dramatic way who were the 2 victims to fight against each other in the pool. Whoever dunked the other person first, won. It was so much fun. After that we all went to bed and got up the next morning for another full day of games. The same thing happened, the pool, the circle of death, all of that crazy stuff. My friends Alice Cumpston, Karli Maguire, and Morgan Santiago stayed up till 1 in the morning in the pool and doing tons of crazy and fun stuff. The next day was our last day. We made it to the semifinals and sadly lost after being exhausted from another days of full games. After that we went back to the hotel and my friend, Morgan Santiago, came with my dad and I to Disney. We went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and thunder, mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain, and many more. After being totally exhausted I went to bed around 12:00 P.M. The next day was the day of our departure. Before going to the airport my dad and I said bye to everyone and then stopped at Universal Studios again to get our last glimpse of Harry Potter World. We had a lot of fun and then we went back to the airport and we sadly left Florida. It was an experience I will never forget and I hope I will have the opportunity to do it again next summer.

What I thought about my book

I absolutely loved my book. I was so happy with it and I definitely do not regret picking it. When we were in our groups there was one new book introduced to me, The Rules of Survival. It is about a boy named Matt who tries to find a man named Murdoch and eventually sees him again when Matt's abusive mother starts dating Murdoch. Eventually the mother and Murdoch break up and the mother becomes more abusive to her three children. Matt seeks out way for his father to get full custody and is chance finally comes when his mother is arrested for stalking Murdoch. With the help of their aunt and Murdoch, Matt's father gets full custody of his children. I think this sounds like a really good book and I am thinking about reading it in the future.

1st research topic

I picked Can't Get There From Here as my English summer reading book.  My first choice of a research topic is the issue of stereotyping or profiling. Stereotyping is a very common topic so I am narrowing it down to when people assume all homeless people want money for is drugs.  Most people in today's world think that is the definite case but in at least half of the cases it is not. My paper definitely argues that it is not okay.

August 28th, 2012

What is there to know about me? Well let’s see, there is a lot actually. I’m really into sports and I’m kind of weird about not having an off season, I like to always be busy. Boredom is my worst enemy. My favorite sport is definitely lacrosse and I play basketball and volleyball also. My hobbies besides those three sports are I love to sing and I have a passion for writing my own songs. I hope to some day learn how to play the piano and the guitar. In our directions it mentioned something about how we want our future to look and I don’t know if it’s weird that I already have my dream future planned out but I do. Hopefully I will follow in my dad’s footsteps and attend the Naval academy for lacrosse and after that I would have a required 5 years of service for my country. I hope to be a pilot or an oceanographer and after my 5 years are up I would like to either become a teacher or maybe have a singing career. But people always change their minds as time grows. So that’s a little bit about me wrapped up in this paragraph.
